Ahmed Modibbo is the Managing Director of Highland Integrated Electricity Services Limited, a position he assumed in February 2021. An administrator, lawyer and governance practitioner, he possesses expertise and experience in corporate administration, corporate transformations/restructurings, strategic management as well as legal expertise in commercial and corporate law. These were garnered in the Financial Services Industry, Developmental Banking and the Power Sector, in Nigeria. Modibbo serves on the Board of Directors of several companies as non-executive Director which includes FBN Holdings plc, NICON Insurance Limited and Resort Savings & Loans Plc. Modibbo had spent most of his working career at the Nigerian Export Import Bank, Nigeria's Export Credit Agency, with the last ten (10) years as the Secretary to the Board of Directors and Legal Adviser. He also served as the Secretary to the Board of the Sealink Promotional Company Limited, a Special Purpose Vehicle established to promote commercial and maritime interconnectivity within the West and Central African Regions. Following his voluntary retirement from NEXIM Bank in 2019, Modibbo had a stint in private legal practice as Managing Partner of Sterling Legal LP, a corporate and commercial law firm located in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Nigeria. Ahmed Modibbo obtained a Degree in Law (LLB) from the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria in 1990 and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1991. He had further acquired the International Bar Association/College of Law of England and Wales International Practice Diplomas in Mergers & Acquisitions, Business Organizations, Joint Ventures, Competition Law, and Intellectual Property Law, respectively. In March 2007, he became the first Nigerian to attain the status of a Fellow of the International Bar Association in International Legal Practice. Other notable Certifications he obtained include the UNITAR (United Nations Institute for Training & Research) Certificate in Negotiation of Financial Transactions and Corporate Governance Best Practice Certificate by Informa/George Washington University in 2013. He is an active member of the Nigerian Bar Association and the International Bar Association. A Chartered Secretary and Administrator being an Associate Member of ICSAN (Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria), Modibbo had served on several Professional and Governmental Committees which include being a one-time member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria [CIBN] Committee on Realization of Secured Credits in Nigeria, one-time member of the Federal Government of Nigeria Committee on the Revival of the Textile Industry in Nigeria and its Technical Sub-Committee on Fund Raising and Management. He has attended several courses and programmes in Law, Strategic and Financial Management, Leadership, Risk Management and Corporate Governance at top business, legal and management schools in Nigeria and abroad.
